WordPress .htaccess File

The .htaccess is a configuration file and is how Apache handles configuration changes on a per-directory basis. Without a .htaccess your WordPress pages won’t work properly, you will find that any link you try to navigate to won’t be found.

WordPress uses this file to manipulate how Apache serves files from its root directory and subdirectories. WordPress modifies this file to be able to handle pretty permalinks, this is what helps make it possible to change your permalinks directly from your admin area.

WordPress Subdirectory .htaccess:

Please remember .htaccess is a hidden file on your control panel so navigate to the settings and tick to view hidden files and then you will see the file and be able to modify it.
