How to Install WordPress using Instant Script Installer (Step by Step + Pictures)

Do you want to install WordPress? Using our instant script installer (Softaculous) this can be done in a couple of clicks and we are going to show you how in this tutorial.

This tutorial includes pictures of the process to try and make it even easier for you. If you do have any questions or need help don’t hesitate to contact us.

Step 1: Login to cPanel & Scroll to the bottom.

You can find your login details in the account information email we sent to you when you registered for website hosting. On shared hosting plans you can also automatically login from your Smughost account.

Once logged in scroll to the bottom of the page where it says “Softaculous Apps Installer”.

Step 2: Now select WordPress (usually the first option)

Step 3: Press “Install” in the menu shown in the image.

Step 4: Enter all the details.

Choose the WordPress Version – Always choose the latest version (usually pre selected), unless you know what version you want.

Choose Protocol – Always select https:// or https://www. when you are hosted with Smughost because you have free ssl certificates and this will connect it to your WordPress website.

Choose Domain – If you have one domain you just need to select that one, if you have multiple choose the one you want WordPress installed on.

In Directory – Leave this blank if you want WordPress installed on your main domain (example. or if you want it installed into a sub directory input the directory you want it installed to (If you write “wp” it will be installed in

Site Name – Enter the name of your business/ website.

Site Description – This is kind of the site slogan.

Admin Username – Enter a secure username, this will be the account you manage your WordPress website from.

Admin Password – Enter a secure password. Again this is for your main account.

Admin Email – Enter a valid email address as this is where any admin messages will go to.

Scroll to the bottom and select “Install”.

Step 5: WordPress will now install into the directory you set.

Step 6: Installation Report

It will now tell you that WordPress has been installed and it will show you the domain it’s been installed to. If you click the admin link it will automatically login for you.

Step 7: All Done!

You should now have a working WordPress. You can start making your website.
